Importing a Used Vehicle from KOREA

HOW-TO-IMPORT-USED-CARS-FROM-KOREA

To import a used car, it's crucial to familiarize yourself with the importing rules, regulations, and associated costs in your country. These can vary and change regularly, so make sure to check for updates and seek out relevant sources.

The IM MOTOR GROUP is not always aware of the current regulations in every country, so it's important to ensure that you are fully informed before purchasing a vehicle.

It's important to note that many regulations require knowledge of either the date of manufacture or the date of first registration in Korea, and it's essential to understand the difference between these two dates. Most Korean documents list the date of first registration in Korea rather than the date of the first manufacture.

When importing a used car, consider the following:

  • Which makes and models are allowed to be imported to your country

  • The condition or grade of the vehicle that is acceptable for import

  • Engine size, import taxes, duties, customs costs, and procedures

  • Whether the vehicle requires a mandatory inspection in Korea before shipment

The IM MOTOR GROUP will do its best to inform you of any requirements, but it's important to let them know in writing before purchasing a vehicle or requesting a vehicle from an auction if there are any specific requirements. This will prevent any issues with the vehicle not meeting regulations in your country.
